At Tortilla Flats, we’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of giving back. So, when we had the opportunity to partner with local environmental groups for a benefit event on September 6th, we jumped at the chance.
Little did we know that it would turn into a great success, bringing together diverse voices in the fight against climate change and celebrating the spirit of unity!
A Meeting Of Minds And Hearts
The idea for this incredible event was born when we reached out to several environmental groups in our community, expressing our desire to host a benefit for them. What came out of those discussions was something truly special: a “Call to the Community.” The concept was simple yet profound—inviting the community to come together and choose a way to get involved in the crucial battle against climate change.
A Gathering Of Environmental Champions
On the day of the event, the meeting hall buzzed with energy as around 20 different groups, each with their unique approach to addressing the climate problem, set up tables. It was a sight to behold—scientists, activists, educators, and community organizers, all under one roof, eager to make a difference.
Enter… The Tostadas
Before the presentations began, Tortilla Flats had a surprise in store for everyone. We served up a mouthwatering, all-vegetarian tostada meal! It was our way of contributing to the cause and showing our commitment to sustainability.
Meet Our Trio of Servers: Azra, Vaitea, and Zolina
Our team members aren’t just dedicated to serving delicious food; they also have big hearts for the community. At the event, you may have had the pleasure of being served by our very own trio of servers: Azra, her daughter Zolina, and her granddaughter Vaitea, making her debut as a server.
