Aside from food, drink, and fiesta, Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. While it’s often celebrated with parades, music, and, of course, food, it’s also a moment to honor the resilience and spirit of the Mexican people.
